GURUGRAM: A 60-year-old woman sufferd injuries after a gas cylinder exploded at her home in Gudana village of Pataudi on Thursday morning.
The police said there was a gas leakage on Wednesday night that the woman Imarti Devi couldn’t detect. When she woke up the next morning to make tea and lit the gas stove, the cylinder exploded, collapsing the two-room house and she received injuries.
The woman was rushed to a nearby hospital by her neighbours who came to her house after hearing the thud of the blast.
Since she had received 40% burn injuries, she was referred to Delhi's Safdarjung Hospital.
The neighbours also called the fire brigade and soon a team along with cops reached the village to douse the flames.
Police said Imarti lived in the house alone along with her cow. The cow too suffered injuries and has been taken to a hospital.
Preliminary investigation revealed that the woman forgot to switch off the gas regulator the previous night due to which there was a leakage. When the cylinder exploded, the room-house collapsed under which the elderly woman was buried. One of the eyewitnesses Sanjay said when the neighbours reached her house she was buried under the debris crying in pain while her cow was also mooing.
“She is getting treated at Safdarjung Hospital. The intensity of the blast was such that adjoining houses too developed cracks,” said a police officer.
